Scholar Spotlights

Zorayda Sanchez

I enjoyed being on the newspaper staff and participating in UIL Journalism contests in high school, so I thought it would be a good fit since I like writing so much.
I see myself working for a magazine as a writer, because I am really into fashion and pop culture.
I’ve recently learned how to sew, so I would potentially like to start a small business selling clothes or accessories and improve my art skills.
In my free time I like going to the gym, playing with my pet bunny, and reading.
I am involved in a student-led magazine called Orange as a graphic designer and I enjoy this organization because it helps me build my portfolio, improve my graphic design skills, and serves as a creative outlet for me. I am also involved in the University Fashion Group organization and I’m passionate about this because fashion is a form of self-expression and I love collaborating with others and learning about their personal style.
The advice I would give to potential applicants is to always be authentic and to invest in yourself, whether that be through education or cultivating your hobbies.
