FAQs About Scholarship Payment

The Haraldson Foundation is changing the way we accept applications. We will no longer have a separate online application. Moving forward, we are working directly with The University of Texas at Austin so that individuals who are accepted to the school will be considered for the scholarship. Students must check the box allowing The University of Texas at Austin to share their application with outside scholarship programs during the application process. If they do so and are accepted, they will be part of the pool of candidates that we consider for the scholarship.

Interviews with this group are held in late spring. Finalists will be contacted via e-mail then.

The interviews are generally very short (~15 mins) and recently been held online (versus in person). The board is looking to get to know the candidate and understand why they are interested in UT and the Haraldson Scholarship. The board appreciates hearing about personal stories about the impact candidates are making in their communities.

In order to keep the Haraldson Scholarship in effect, and in addition to any other requirements that the university may impose, a Scholar must (1) maintain at least a 3.0  grade point average each semester, (2) maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, (3) provide copies of your grade reports at the end of each semester to the administrator, (4) write a thank you letter to the Haraldson Board at the completion of the scholarship, and (5) comply with the rules prescribed from time to time by the university and the Foundation’s Directors.

Yes, you may study abroad, but you must make a request in writing to the Haraldson office, and your request must be approved by this office.
No. Students applying for a Haraldson Scholarship must intend to physically attend classes. Students pursuing “all on-line” degrees will not be considered for a Haraldson Foundation scholarship. Keep in mind that to qualify for funding, a substantial portion (at least 6 semester credit hours) of any semester’s course load must be in physical attendance at the approved university campus.

Timeline Update:

Interviews have been pushed back to April 13, 2024 (online). Notifications for interviews will be sent out via email in early March.
