FAQs About Scholarship Payment

The application is online and has four main components. From start to finish it could take anywhere from 30 mins to 1 hour to fill out as long as you have all the required information ready when you start.  

You will receive an email by January 10th informing you of your interview date and time. Interviews generally are on the Saturday over MLK weekend each year.
The interviews are generally very short (~15 mins) and recently been held online (versus in person). The board is looking to get to know the candidate and understand why they are interested in UT and the Haraldson Scholarship. The board appreciates hearing about personal stories about the impact candidates are making in their communities.

In order to keep the Haraldson Scholarship in effect, and in addition to any other requirements that the university may impose, a Scholar must (1) maintain at least a 3.0  grade point average each semester, (2) maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, (3) provide copies of your grade reports at the end of each semester to the administrator, (4) write a thank you letter to the Haraldson Board at the completion of the scholarship, and (5) comply with the rules prescribed from time to time by the university and the Foundation’s Directors.

Yes, you may study abroad, but you must make a request in writing to the Haraldson office, and your request must be approved by this office.
No. Students applying for a Haraldson Scholarship must intend to physically attend classes. Students pursuing “all on-line” degrees will not be considered for a Haraldson Foundation scholarship. Keep in mind that to qualify for funding, a substantial portion (at least 6 semester credit hours) of any semester’s course load must be in physical attendance at the approved university campus.

Interviews have been pushed back to April 13, 2024 (online). Notifications for interviews will be sent out via email in early March.
