Scholar Spotlights

Jeffrey Ngo

I chose Management Information Systems (MIS) because I enjoy technology and this major allows students to serve as a bridge between business and technology.
When I graduate, I would like to get an information technology or information systems job. Diving into those roles will allow me to see if I want to be on the more technical or business side of MIS.
One really long-term goal I have is to eventually have my own business. There’s just something so unique and gratifying about having something that you started up from the ground and can continue to develop. My plan right now is to get out into the field for a few years and hopefully find a niche that I can capitalize on!
Outside of school, I enjoy playing tennis, trying new food places (I’m a big foodie), going to the farmer’s market, and exploring new K-pop music.
  • McCombs Success Scholars – For this organization, I am a Peer Mentor. I am passionate about this organization because it helps serve underrepresented students and provides them a family to connect and grow with!
  • McCombs Leadership Program (Member) – This organization has really helped me to discover my leadership style, see my place as a leader in society, and expose me to ways I can positively affect my community and eventually the world.
Learn more about yourself. Try to think about how you actually are as a person: your habits, strengths, weaknesses, fears, passions, dislikes. Take these things and study them because knowing more about yourself and how you function will allow you to:
  • Have a better sense of self-identity. With so many people at college, it can be hard to find your place and identity.
  • Work better in teams and with people in general.
  • Benefit you in your future job searches as you can explain your experiences better.
