Scholar Spotlights

Roxanna Sanchez

While I love writing and media, I initially chose Journalism and Radio-TV-Film because of their ability to mobilize communities and bring forth progressive change.
Since attending UT Austin, I have been much more interested in community impact and am now planning to attend grad school to pursue a career as a community outreach and programming librarian.
The grand plan is to be a book author and librarian. More importantly, I hope to be of service to underserved minority communities by implementing programs that work towards creating an equitable environment.
I am currently the Texas Book Festival School & Community Outreach Intern and regularly volunteer at my local library. When I’m not talking about all things books, I’m hiking, roller skating, or writing poetry.
  • I am part of the Vamos Volunteer Organization that has allowed me to make connections with other Latinx students while making an impact in the city of
    Austin through our volunteer efforts.
  • I am also in the Moody Honors Program, which has been instrumental in my
desire to use my communication and media skills to help others.
The Haraldson Foundation prides itself in empowering and supporting students who wish to make an impact in the state of Texas. That is the very reason I applied to begin with. Regardless of major or career interest, future and current Haraldson scholars all share the desire to pay it forward. Think about what you have done in your high school career that shows this intrinsic desire and what you plan to do at the university level—with the support of the Haraldson Foundation—to help others.
