Scholar Spotlights

Ericka Acevedo

I aim to attend Nursing School and become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner!

When I graduate, I would love to work in the Pediatric Department at Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio as a nurse practitioner. I love working with kids and aspire to provide comfort and security for young patients.

I desire to accomplish in the future is to obtain my Master’s of Science in Nursing Degree and travel around the world after I graduate.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, doing outdoor activities such as swimming, and volunteering in my community to positively impact others.

At The University of Texas at Austin, I am involved in an organization called Hispanic Nursing Students Association, where I serve as an officer. This organization has become my family away from home and allowed me to become involved in the nursing field while volunteering in Hispanic under-privileged areas.

Additionally, I am a Miracle Maker for an organization called Texas THON, being a student-run philanthropy that raises awareness and funds for Dell Children’s Medical Center, fundraising all for the patients and their families! Knowing that I can make a difference in helping provide children with the necessary medical treatment is an incredible feeling.

Believe in yourself and don’t become discouraged! Scholarship applications may seem like they take up too much time or are not worth the effort, but never forget your end goal. Prove to others all the hard work and time you have put into your educational journey over the past years! The Haraldson Foundation’s continued generosity and support towards assisting scholars to make an impact on the world is incomparable.
